Lubbock Emergency Communication District

Lubbock Emergency Communication District

The Lubbock Emergency Communication District was created pursuant to the Texas Health & Safety Code, Section 772.301 through 772.329 on April 5, 1986 by voter approval in Lubbock County. The District is responsible for providing Enhanced 9-1-1 service to Lubbock County, as well as the Cities of Abernathy and Plainview.

What is 9-1-1?

When most people think of 9-1-1, the mental image is one of the men and women who answer the phone to assist in an emergency. However, 9-1-1 is actually a dedicated, high-speed phone network utilizing special hardware and software. This network is designed to quickly and efficiently route 9-1-1 calls to a predefined emergency answering point based on your calling location.

9-1-1 is a single, easy-to-remember number used to report emergencies to fire, police, and EMS.

Addressing

The District is responsible for addressing the non-incorporated areas of Lubbock County. If you need an address for your residence or structure, and it is outside the City limits, submit a request online.
